Student Summit

When we had teams on the Wiki and students were supposed to contributed to it, I was the only one on my team that did anything on it. I was a little disappointed that I did all the work and they didn’t do anything, I thought that was point of the project helping out each other over long distance communication. My topic was Connecting the World Online and that’s all about how people can be connected and people are getting connected in the flattening world. We learned different digital tools that make your life way easier such as online note taking, you can organize the notes anyway you want and in any format. Global collaboration was a huge part of this project, if you needed help to answer a question about your video or Wiki page you could get on the Ning and ask the question and hopefully someone would answer your question.  I learned lessons from this project that I’ll carry for the rest of my life, they are: Global communication and collaboration is a good thing, Digital tools to help you secede, Do your part of the work so your groups don’t get mad at you.
My favorite about this project was learning all the ways to communicate in a flatten world and all the technology that is out there. You could interact with anybody anywhere in the world which I think is really cool and unique; not every student has that opportunity. The biggest challenge was trying to get everybody in the group to work together and do their fair share of work. Getting the video done on time was challenging. Making sure all the files worked and if they didn’t was very frustrated. The changes I would like to see is saving the things on the Wiki and Ning and if it wasn’t so difficult.

Keynote Speaker

People use many tools in education to communicate and collaborate. Students use iPads with interactive apps that can help them learn material that they don't understand. If students need to ask the teacher a question they can ask them over social media and immediate feedback, that wasn't possible 5 years ago. Being able to be interact with people and not have to be face to face with them. We can use iPads to take digital notes and get on educational websites. We can go out and find a way to do stuff and not have the teacher explain everything, we learn on our own. If you get  a job that requires interaction with people that aren't right next to you, you know how to communicate with them over digital tools and be successful in it. The way I can use it in FCP is, when I have a question that I don't understand, I can get on the Ning and ask the question on there and get an answer. Technology and digital devices have really changed the world for the better and people would have no idea how to life their lives without them. I'm very happy that I'm a digital native that I can go straight to the Internet and look up information I need, if I was a teenager 20 years ago I would've had to look up the info in a book and not have it on the tip of my finger. I can't even image this world without all the tech tools that are used to collaborate! The world is a better place because of them.

Digital Citizenship

Hi everybody I’m Abe and I’m taking the class Digital Communications Tools, the class is about learning new digital devices and how to use them responsible and efficiently. My blog will be about telling you about the class I’m taking, what’s going on during it and all the new things I learn. I’m really looking forward to this class!
The first unit we did was learning about digital citizenship. Digital citizenship is the way someone acts and behaves when they are online. Digital citizenship tells you to be respectful, kind and caring when using anything digital and act like you would in real life. We learned how it could affect your future in terms of getting into college and landing a job and how they look at you when you apply for college or a job. So post carefully!
My online profile is pretty good, I don’t put things on there that will hurt me in my future or that embarrasses me or that I’m shameful of. I haven’t made any changes regarding my online life because of this unit because I have nothing that I think should be taken down.
My info graphic represents what we learned and what I know about digital citizenship. I put pictures and words to show what digital citizenship is.
